How much does a private debate coach cost?

BruceDebate charges $60 an hour for one-on-one online coaching. A 10-session package costs $480, which is $48 a session. The first consultation is free.

Is the coaching online?

Yes. All coaching is online, and we take students from all over the world. In 2026 we coached students in New York, North Carolina, California, Florida, Virginia and Missouri.

Which debate events do you coach?

Our main events are Lincoln-Douglas, Public Forum and Extemporaneous Speaking and Debate (USX, IX, EXT Debate). We also offer Policy, Congress, Big Questions, and Original Oratory.

What is traditional debate?

Traditional debate is argued at a conversational pace for judges who may have no debate background. It is our specialty: clear arguments and cultivating critical thinking skills.

Do you coach both middle school and high school students?

Yes. We coach middle school and high school debaters, from beginners to state and national outround competitors.

What results have your students earned?

In 2026 our students included a Lincoln-Douglas state semifinalist in Virginia, a Lincoln-Douglas state runner-up in Florida, and district champion in Florida.

Can you help before one specific tournament?

Yes. Each class is personalized for you and the skills you want to develop. Additionally a practice debate costs $100, and feedback on a case costs $40.

Who are the coaches?

Brandon Bruce and Lucy Huang. Both have been coaching for 1 year and in that time coached students to the top of their respective states. Brandon also reached the top 32 in Extemp Debate at NSDA Nationals and top 4 in Missouri Lincoln Douglas. Lucy also reached top 4 in Missouri Lincoln Douglas and round 7 of Extemp Debate at nationals.
